1866 Goodrich appears to have continued employment as a saloon keeper during the first half of 1866. About the first of June he was stabbed in the face during a barroom brawl which seems to have caused him to sober up as his diary entries become more regular and more legible. By September, Goodrich reestablishes his school in Little Rock but he has few students as his reputation as an intemperate saloon keeper has nearly ruined him. |
