James Griffing had two other siblings besides Clarissa (Griffing) Giddings, wife
of the town founder, who were affiliated with Table Rock, Nebraska. Rev. Asa
Brooks and his wife Permelia (Griffing) Brooks, were apparently planning to
migrate to Table Rock along with many others from Luzerne County, but changed
their minds after purchasing property from the Nebraska Settlement Association.
The deeds below show that the Association purchased the property back in 1858.
Osmyn Griffing did
come to Nebraska Territory in 1859 and he lived in Table Rock until sometime in
1866. See Permelia's
Memoirs.
